“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” ― Pema Chödrön, The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times
Are you and/or a struggling to get adequate care to address significant impairments related to a mental health challenge? The system of care to address mental health issues can be quite confusing and overwhelming to navigate. I have supported numerous individuals to navigate the behavioral health care system, including accessing housing resources, filing for Social Security Disability benefits and MediCal/Medicare coverage, establishing and maintaining quality psychiatric care, medication management, vocational rehabilitation, and community integration. I am a strong proponent of the peer-driven movement within behavioral health care and am an advocate for clients who have been disempowered by the mental health system. I have seen that an individual's relationship with a supportive case manager can be integral to recovering from their mental health condition and living a meaningful life. I provide system navigation to individuals and families to help navigate funding resources and other services available to those who have experienced a mental health crisis.
